Tony grew up in Yate, just outside Bristol during the 70’s and 80’s. He must be old; I hear you say. After leaving school and completing an apprenticeship in electrical and electronic engineering at British Aerospace things started to go sideways. During the next 4 years, he worked in cardboard box, washing machine, glass bottle, and milk bottling factories. He was a paint, car parts, and metal girder delivery driver. Tony then fell into media and broadcasting with a job in the audio text publishing field – Remember 0898 numbers? No! Not the fifthly ones! The entertainment and informational ones. Anyway, he was a voice talent, producer, engineer, accountant, and tea boy. After a few years, Tony decided to pursue his true passion, the great outdoors, and went to a university in Liverpool to get a degree in outdoor education.
After graduating, he worked for Outward Bound in the Highlands of Scotland. Again, after a few years, he fell into the tourism industry working as a ski rep in France, then as a resort rep in Ibiza, and then the big move doing the same in the United States.
Fast forward to today and Tony has been married for over 20 years, has two teenage kids, two golden labs, a mortgage, credit card debt, a Dad bod, and lives in South Lake Tahoe, California. Since 2012, he has worked for the local tourism promotion office where he’s in charge of tourism development.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he and some friends tried and failed to set up their own online radio station focused on locals with alternative music and real news. They had a lot of fun setting up playlists and the technology, but it never really got off the ground. Tony is excited to reignite his broadcasting passion by joining Charitable Radio. You can hear him on Saturday mornings from 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM.
