The Fundraising Regulator and Chartered Institute of Fundraising have updated their advice for fundraising following the latest easing of restrictions.

The two are advising all charitable fundraising organisations to maintain a cautious approach to their fundraising activities, and to undertake careful planning and risk assessments before carrying out any fundraising activity to ensure the public, donors, and fundraisers are protected.

The new guidance sets out a framework to aid decision-making and sets out five key considerations that all organisations should work into their planning process.

They are:

To keep up to date with and follow Government guidance and any continuing or new restrictions (including regional or local ones)

To carry out a thorough risk assessment to identify the risks associated with your fundraising activity

To, following the outcome of your risk assessment, identify the steps you will need to take to protect the public, fundraisers, and volunteers

Consider the public mood and likely feelings and preferences of supporters

Ensure decisions made to carry out a fundraising activity are thoroughly considered, carefully evaluated, and regularly reviewed

These considerations are set out and explained in full on the Fundraising Regulator’s site.
